\u5176\u4f59\u56db\u4eba\u4e8e2023\u5e743\u6708\u5728\u5230\u8fbe\u829d\u52a0\u54e5\u673a\u573a\u540e\u63a5\u53d7\u95ee\u8be2\uff0c\u4ed6\u4eec\u627f\u8ba48\u6708\u4efd\u66fe\u5230\u8fc7\u7c73\u6b47\u6839\u5dde\u5317\u90e8\u5730\u533a\uff0c\u4e0d\u8fc7\u5ba3\u79f0\u662f\u4e3a\u4e86\u89c2\u8d4f\u201c\u6d41\u661f\u96e8\u201d\u3002\u4ed6\u4eec\u5728\u63d0\u53ca\u90a3\u4f4d\u56fd\u6c11\u8b66\u536b\u961f\u5458\u65f6\u53ea\u7528\u4e86\u8bf8\u5982\u201c\u58eb\u5175\u201d\u3001\u201c\u9732\u8425\u8005\u201d\u6216\u201c\u597d\u4eba\u201d\u7684\u4ee3\u79f0\u3002\u53bb\u5e7412\u6708\uff0c\u5728\u8fdb\u884c\u5fae\u4fe1\u4ea4\u6d41\u65f6\uff0c\u4e94\u4eba\u63d0\u5230\u4e86\u6e05\u9664\u7167\u7247\u7684\u76f8\u5173\u4e8b\u5b9c\u3002<\/p>\n

U.S. authorities charged five Chinese nationals with lying and trying to cover their tracks, more than a year after they were confronted in the dark near a remote Michigan military site where thousands of people had gathered for summer drills.\nThe five, who were University of Michigan students at the time, were not charged for what happened at Camp Grayling in August 2023. Rather they are accused of misleading investigators about the trip and conspiring to clear their phones of photos, according to a criminal complaint filed in federal court.\nThe FBI noted in the Tuesday court filing that there have been instances of college students from China taking photos of vital defense sites in the United States.\nThere was nothing in the file revealing the whereabouts of the five men.\n\u201cThe defendants are not in custody. Should they come into contact with U.S. authorities, they will be arrested and face these charges,\u201d Gina Balaya, a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Detroit, said Wednesday.\nIn summer 2023, the five were confronted after midnight near a lake by a sergeant major with the Utah National Guard. One said, \u201cWe are media,\u201d before they collected their belongings and agreed to leave the area, the FBI said.\nThe FBI learned that the men had booked a room at a nearby motel a week before they were spotted outside Camp Grayling, 200 miles (321.8 kilometers) north of Detroit.\nFour months later, one of the men was interviewed by border officers at the Detroit airport before traveling to South Korea and China. He told investigators that he and others had taken a trip to northern Michigan \u201cto see shooting stars,\u201d the FBI said.\nA check of his external hard drive revealed two images of military vehicles taken on the same night of the encounter with the National Guard officer, the FBI said.\nThe other four men were interviewed last March after arriving in Chicago on a flight from Iceland. They acknowledged being in northern Michigan in August 2023, but they said it was to see a meteor shower, the FBI said.\nThey mentioned the National Guard officer but referred to him only as \u201cthe soldier,\u201d a camper or \u201cnice guy,\u201d according to the criminal complaint.\nThe men last December communicated on WeChat about clearing photos from their cameras and phones, investigators said.\nThe FBI said all five men graduated last spring from the University of Michigan.
